Oris ProPilot Bronze: A Warm New Chapter in the Pilot's Watch Legacy
Oris has expanded its recently refreshed ProPilot Date collection with a new bronze variant that brings a distinct character to the cockpit-inspired timepiece. The ProPilot Bronze combines the clean lines of the latest generation with the organic allure of bronze, a material that evolves with the wearer.
Design and Case
The 41mm case is now crafted entirely from bronze, except for the steel caseback, and retains the proportions that made the steel version so appealing: 11.7mm thick and 49mm lug-to-lug. Over time, the bronze will develop a natural patina, ensuring that each watch becomes uniquely yours. The case features the signature turbine-style fluted bezel and a large screw-in crown inspired by a historic 1938 Oris pilot's watch. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters.
Dial and Legibility
The black dial is a study in clarity, with applied Arabic numerals and hands coated in Super-LumiNova for excellent low-light visibility. The date window at 6 o'clock maintains the symmetrical layout that defines the modern ProPilot aesthetic.
Movement: Oris Calibre 733
Powering the watch is the automatic Oris Calibre 733, based on the reliable Sellita SW200 (a clone of the ETA 2824). It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 41-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through a sapphire display caseback, showcasing the Oris-red rotor.
Strap and Wearability
The watch comes on a dark green suede strap that complements the warm tones of the bronze case. It is secured with a bronze folding 'LIFT' clasp, inspired by aircraft seatbelt mechanisms, which offers seamless adjustment for a perfect fit.
Availability and Price
The Oris ProPilot Bronze (reference 01 733 7805 3164-07 6 20 22BRLC) will be available from September 2026 as part of the permanent collection, priced at CHF 2,250. For more information, visit the official Oris website.
Buying Tips and Authenticity Notes
When considering the ProPilot Bronze, remember that bronze cases require a bit of care; patina is natural and desirable, but you can control it with regular cleaning. Ensure you purchase from an authorized dealer to guarantee authenticity and warranty. The reference number and movement details are key indicators of a genuine Oris.
